Sustainability Development Goals
Sustainability Development Goals – Lullaby Planets Contribution
At Lullaby Planet we believe that sustainability should play an essential role in business. For this reason, we want to focus on as many sustainability areas as possible and as well as possible. Sustainability is not just a side aspect for us, but a main thread. Even the fact that Lullaby Planet as an organization has not existed that long in the baby universe does not prevent us from taking on corporate social responsibility.
We have made it our goal to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals with our online shop and our own products. Although we are still at the beginning of our journey, we have already been able to contribute. We would like to work towards continuously increasing our contribution.
Lullaby Planet and UN Sustainable Development Goals
At Lullaby Planet we have been looking at the UN Sustainable Development Goals and how we can contribute to the achievement. We have selected 3 Sustainable Development Goals where we believe Lullaby Planet can make a particular impact.
To make our contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals more transparent, we have listed the exact sub-goals to which we contribute to the following sections.
Good Health and Well-being
This goal aims to improve the health and well-being of mothers and children. It also aims to reduce the spread of disease in general. Lullaby Planet only carries and distributes products that support this goal - this applies to own production as well as resale of other brands.
"By 2030: End preventable deaths of newborns and under 5 years of age, with all countries aiming to reduce newborn mortality to at least as low as 12 per 1,000 live births and under-5 mortality to at least as low as 25 per 1,000 live births." (Sub-goal 3.2)
At Lullaby Planet, Goal 3.2 is particularly close to our hearts, and through the production of our soothers we contribute directly to the goal of reducing newborn deaths. Studies have shown that the use of pacifiers can help reduce infant mortality.
Our soothers not only comply with current norms and standards (EN 1400) but are also adapted to babies' needs. That is why we offer 3 diverse types of soothers, designed to meet the different health and emotional needs of babies. Our soothers are designed with a focus on reducing potential unwanted effects as much as possible. They are therefore equipped with large air holes to avoid skin irritation, and the soothers are shaped to distribute the pressure against the gums and palate as well as possible. This includes a lightweight shield and a flat neck where the gums/teeth squeeze together around the teat.
"3.9 By 2030, substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals, air, water and soil pollution and contamination." (sub-target 3.9)
We contribute to sub-goal 3.9. by ensuring that all our products are free from harmful chemicals and substances to protect both our children and the environment. We work primarily with European companies because they are bound by all European standards and legislation.
Our soothers are guaranteed free of BPA, PVC and phthalates. Lullaby Planet's own textile collection is GOTS-certified, which ensures that the entire supply chain operates responsibly and ethically regarding. environment, as well as social and labor conditions.
Decent Work and economic Growth
Goal 8 is about promoting sustainable, inclusive, and economic growth with decent work for all. We focus on this goal both within our own company, but also with the companies we work with. We want to ensure decent jobs and economic growth not only within our own company but also externally with our partners.
"By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value." (Sub-goal 8.5)
We at Lullaby Planet are committed to decent work regardless of gender, age, and personal capabilities. We believe that pay should be based on work and skills and not on other characteristics. With us, everyone gets equal opportunities. With this in mind, we agree with sub-goal 8.5.
At Lullaby Planet ApS, the rights of our employees are paramount. We want to help ensure that our employees are protected and provide them with a safe environment. With this foundation, we ensure that our employees develop their potential and act in the interest of the organization. We do not differentiate between different employees. With us, permanent employees, student assistants or interns all have the same status.
"Protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers, including migrant workers, especially women migrant workers, and workers in precarious employment." (Sub-goal 8.8)
In relation to sub-goal 8.8, we at Lullaby Planet can make a particular difference in terms of. our choice of partners. We have a responsibility to ensure that our products are produced under proper working conditions, and therefore we work with certified companies in cases where the partners come from countries outside Europe where workers do not enjoy the same protection and lack security and safety in their working conditions. In this way, through our choice of partners, we contribute to ensuring workers' rights in the companies we deal with.
"By 2020, significantly reduce the proportion of young people not in employment, education or training." (Sub-goal 8.6)
As mentioned in the previous paragraph, we also give young people the chance to develop their talent and skills. Lullaby Planet continuously employs interns who work independently on different projects in the company. We want to enable young people to gain professional work experience.
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
As the name of the 12th goal suggests, it aims to create sustainable consumption and production within society. Sustainable consumption and production mean the avoidance or reduction of waste in all respects. Furthermore, this goal considers the ecological footprint of a producer and consumer. An ecological footprint generally refers to the use and consumption of resources.
"By 2030, achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources." (Sub-goal 12.2)
This is also important at Lullaby Planet, we want to make a conscious effort to use fewer resources, both in our own production and in the production of other brands in our shop. We choose our partners carefully and apply certain criteria. Among them is the criterion that our partners produce resources efficiently. However, this also applies to our own products and production.
We are aware that plastic is made from natural raw materials, which are finite. To use them more efficiently, we have decided, for example, to dispense with the soother ring on our Lullaby Planet soother. We don't think it is necessary and we think that the production uses more resources.
Our soother manufacturer also works to reduce material consumption, for example recycling all excess plastic/residual material from one production into the next, so our soothers are produced without unnecessary material waste.
All our own products come in plastic-free packaging.
We are aware that the materials we use are made from raw materials that cannot be produced locally or regionally. However, we then make sure that we work with partners who cooperate with certified suppliers. With this approach, we want to ensure sustainable production and consumption.
"By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse." (sub-target 12.5)
Waste management is an issue of great importance to us. In all processes, we try to reduce the amount of waste generated or, if possible, avoid it altogether. To contribute to this goal, we have decided to develop our own packaging, which is either (industrially) compostable or partially recyclable. In addition, we try to avoid unnecessary materials in our packaging for shipping.
"By 2030, ensure that people everywhere have the relevant information and awareness for sustainable development and a way of life in harmony with nature." (Sub-goal 12.8)
Transparency and dissemination of knowledge about sustainability
At Lullaby Planet, we see it as our responsibility to provide our customers with relevant information about the products and brands in our store.
We want to be transparent to our customers and let them understand what lies behind the Lullaby Planet concept. Therefore, we try to communicate thoroughly and clearly how our various products and brands work with sustainability. This is shown on each product card, and we have created an article for each brand, where we elaborate on each brand's efforts in this area.
Only by working together can we create a more sustainable future for ourselves and the next generation.
There are several UN Sustainable Development Goals that we touch on in one way or another. We want to be aware of our opportunities to make a difference, which is why we have listed some goals that we do not work on to the same extent as the 3 we have just reviewed above - but which we still believe we have an impact on and a responsibility to be aware of that impact. These are
Goal 4 - Quality Education. With our shop and the products, we offer, we want to contribute to quality education (). We focus on toys that support children in their development and creativity in the best feasible way. Furthermore, we want to share our knowledge about baby products in general with our customers. We share the experiences we have made in dummy production with our customers in the form of blog articles.
Goal 5 - Gender equality is a focus in our organization. We want to be a shop where gender stereotypes do not play a role and encourage our customers to think differently. With us, boys can have a pink dummy and girls a blue dummy. Our products are not sorted by gender, but by age group or occasion. Furthermore, we increasingly pay attention to the use of gender-neutral language within our company and everyday processes.
An important guideline in our company is to reduce the use of plastic, as this has a negative impact on all ecosystems. For example, by selling products that are made from recycled plastic, we are influencing the prevention of marine pollution. We see this as an indirect influence for Goal 14 - Life under water.
Goal 15 - Life on land. deals with the protection of terrestrial ecosystems. This includes avoiding deforestation, land degradation and the loss of animal species. Like the previously described goals, we are aware that our products have an impact in this area. For this reason, we value partners who are committed to acting responsibly in the various ecosystems without causing excessive damage to them.
